I've always been good at reading. That's a real talent when you're a child. Not so much when you're grown up. For about 5 years, I went through a stage of not reading as much but now I'm back and working my way through all the books I can get my hands on. See the full list of the books I've read since 2011 here. They don't all have reviews but they do all have a rating, and I don't think my list is too shabby.

I'm not picky with genres, I tend to go through phases of reading certain things. Currently I'm enjoying banned books, anything that's a bit dystopian, and books that combine Japan and cats. I've always loved a classic, historical fiction, and a bit of crime. I generally steer clear from smutty romance and horror.

 

My all time favourite book is Black Beauty by Anna Sewell. I'll link my current Top 10 Books here soon.

 

My goal is to one day read War and Peace by Leo Tolstoy. A few years ago that would have been right up my street but my reading level has dropped over the years of not reading. I'll get there one day, and I'm having a great time on that journey. Find out what's on my 'To Be Read' list.

What my ratings mean:

5 stars: Excellent, only the best of the best

4 stars: I enjoyed it, there were some little niggles but did not affect my overall enjoyment

3 stars: Not a bad book, but the flaws were distracting

2 stars: I made it through, but it was a bit of a struggle

1 star: Literally terrible, dragged myself to the end or did not finish

And sometimes I rate purely on vibes. If I loved a book and any niggles were eclipsed by the story then I'll rate it 5 stars without hesitation.
